CUBA

There are aspects of Cuba I’ve not come across anywhere else. The decaying Spanish colonial buildings in beautiful decay don’t appear to have been repaired or painted since independence, the classic American cars that are so prized and polished - and the people. Everyone I met was so friendly and welcoming despite the obvious hardships and shortages they have to endure, but I didn’t once see anyone begging. I did see many small businesses in the doorways and windows of houses as private enterprise is now permitted as their brand of communism softens.

The population are the black ancestors of the African slaves and the Spanish and those of mixed race. All living happily as one. If only this was the same everywhere?
